If you inherited certain landscaping varieties, download a plant identification app to help you understand the possible risk to pet health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to Avoid<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any of the following plant varieties in your pet\u2019s outdoor space, please don\u2019t wait for them to decide they want to eat it one day. Relocate the plant to a friend or neighbor and replace it with something from the list above. These plants can create extremely hazardous health outcomes for pets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sago palm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Call lily<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Azalea<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Castor bean<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cyclamen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jimson weed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Century plant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dumb cane<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aloe vera<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Texas mountainside laurel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Firesticks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rubber tree<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bird of paradise<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pothos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Snake plant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Desert rose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lantana<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oleander<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Side effects of pet poisoning from toxic plants can include vomiting, GI tract upset, organ failure, and even death. As such, installing and maintaining a xeriscape garden can be a viable option, provided all the chosen plants are safe for pets. Without a designated grassy patch outside, pets may grow confused about where to urinate or defecate. Keeping a little area of grass may be feasible, but there are artificial turf products that support healthy hygiene while meeting a pet\u2019s bathroom needs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, installing a catio, or cat-patio, or specific dog-run area can improve a pet\u2019s enrichment opportunities.
